“Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.”Frank Herbert

I primarily work in  analog collage but I have a seperate Instagram page to create in the ai space and look forward to what the emerging tools have to offer artists. I am interested in generative technolgy mostly in how it can animate and expand anolog work. I’m aware of the existensial  threat the technology poses. Most concernoing is the imediate environmental impact. I support Bernie Sander’s moritorium proposal.

Art history is intertwined with the history of technology. While ai is a massive leap forward and should absolutely be regulated, artists have a role to play in pushing the creative and likely the  judicial boundaries of the new medium. How do we to define artistic licensing laws and create protections and incentives for artists, without artists using ai themselves? Like sample artists did for music in the 80s.  The technolgy is here. If you are reading this, you are using ai technolgy. The archiac debate over “real art” is childish and distracing from the real threats of ai.
