Las Vegas artists group show highlights intersections between art and technology and features two of my older (2014) acrylic paintings; “The Veil of Isis” and “Pix Christ.” Both pieces depict the iconic religious portraits of Mary and Jesus, done in the style of 8-bit pixels. The title, “The Veil of Isis” refers to the persistence of the Sacred Feminine in all religions despite the endless and often violent suppression by patriarchal sects. “Pix Christ” is a play on words that refer to the famous Andres Serrano photograph. An image I always found fascinating for its aesthetic synthesis of the sacred and the profane.
